The most common procedure uses a fine laser beam to tunnel into a diamond and burn the existing inclusion, which is further lightened with acid. As this process is stable, all labs will grade lasered drilled diamonds and indicate the process on their report. The Federal Trade Commission also requires disclosure of laser-drilled diamonds to consumers at the point-of-sale.

pearl jewelry can be described as sophisticated, tasteful, timeless and always a great gift for women. Whether you buy beaded jewelry for yourself or for that special person in your life, one thing is certain, you can go wrong in any case.

When buying pearl jewelry you should check that you are the best buy of the pearls of class. The only way to ensure you buy pearls best kind is the acquisition of a jeweler reliable and highly regarded.

not really make a difference if you are looking for earrings, a necklace or bracelet, everything must be perfect finish, the pearl of great quality. You may wonder why a woman wants to be proud of the value of beaded jewelry, you get the clear answer for the reason they want to bequeath to future generations beaded jewelry.

The best thing about pearls is that they reinforce in magnificence as they age. It is then again of the utmost importance to take care of large pearls. beaded jewelry should be placed separately from other jewelry. A cloth bag is ideal for this role.

pearl jewelry should be cleaned after each use. A dry cloth can be used for this purpose. Any variety of water level in pearl jewelry should be removed immediately with water and, of course, wipe with a soft cloth.

With gold and platinum prices at all-time highs, lots of folks are buying sterling silver jewelry instead. Did you know that silver is the whitest metal, even whiter than platinum or rhodium? That’s why a flat, polished silver surface makes a perfect mirror. Some silver jewelry is plated with rhodium to prevent tarnish, so you should NOT polish this type of silver, because it will remove the plating! Though rhodium is a platinum-group metal, it is not quite as white as silver, so there are some advantages to leaving the silver au naturale, and we will talk about that in a minute. By the way, the Viridian Gold Jewelry Store will always tell you if one of our jewelry pieces is rhodium-plated, so that you will know how to care for it. Rhodium plating is also commonly used on white gold jewelry.

It doesn’t need regular polishing, because tarnish is kept at bay by skin oils and regular washing. That means that an item worn against the skin, such as a cross on a chain, or a ring, tends to stay relatively tarnish-free. Except when it is exposed to some harsh chemicals which accelerate oxidation. For instance, if you wear a silver neck-cross and go swimming in a chlorinated pool, the cross will quickly turn black! But, swim in a lake or spring-fed pool (like our Barton Springs pool here in Austin!), and nothing happens. Silver is, as the chemists say, “highly reactive”. Some substances besides oxygen, especially sulfur and chlorine, will combine with the silver to form compounds which are black in color. So, if your water supply is high in sulfur (well water is sometimes this way), or is loaded with chlorine, you will have a problem with silver tarnish. And, some folks’ skin oils contain chemicals which can accelerate tarnishing, because of their particular body chemistry or diet.

So, how to clean the polish? Well, you could use silver polish, and that works great–some polishes leave behind a film which helps prevent tarnishing (but that quickly wears off of a piece of jewelry that gets handled). Or, you could do what I do–just put a little toothpaste on your fingers and rub it on the piece, then rinse with water. Quick, convenient and cheap. Remember, though: Don’t polish silver that is rhodium plated. If the silver item is something that is not in constant contact with your skin, such as earrings or a brooch, then you need to make sure you store the jewelry item in an air-tight container or in a tarnish-inhibiting cloth.

Natural color diamonds are unique as they exist in almost every imaginable color, size and price range. Colored diamonds will vary from the faintest shade of pastel pink, blue or yellow to the most deep or vivid shade of brown, green or orange. The value of natural color diamonds is based on the rarity, strength and variation of color within each diamond.

When it comes to wearing beads around your neck, there are rules for similar color and type just like for any fashion accessory. Just like you simply can’t wear white after Labor Day, there are certain colors and types of jewelry to stay away from for the fall!

The bright, spring and summer than it was. So while you may want to wear something more remote, like many of quartz or rock particles of different items, you instead want to tone it down just a bit.

Amber is perhaps the most fall-like colored bead material there is for jewelry. Not only does its rich, warm orange perfectly match the fall foliage, but it gives off an air of sophistication and mystery. Being a completely natural occurring material you can be sure that there were very little environmental consequences to wearing amber beads.

Darker and deeper colors for stone beads is also a better idea for the fall. While bright and rich turquoise beads are great for spring and summer necklaces and bracelets, they generate images of the sunny Southwest and so are less fitting when the temperature gets frigid and chilly.

Instead of turquoise, go with the darker blue of lapis lazuli. Lapis is the color of the bluest ocean you’ve ever seen. A dark, mysterious blue that is more attuned to the darkened skies of a Northeast autumn. You can find lapis lazuli beads in just about any size or shape, from round to faceted.

Likewise, the rich green of malachite, with its alternating light and dark layers is well-suited for the shorter days marking the end of the year. You can however, find malachite beads in solidly lighter or darker greens. If you run across these go for the darker greens for fall and save the lighter green, and light green jade, for the long hot days of summer.

If you are looking at gemstone beads, you want to again go for the darker looks. Dark red ruby beads will cost more, as well a dark green emerald and dark blue sapphire, but their luster and depth will stun those around you at cocktail parties and autumn events.

If you choose to intermix gold or silver with any of the precious or semi-precious stone beads for your fall look, go for the darker, tarnished beads instead of the highly polished and bright beads. The shiny gold and silver will detract from the dark richness of the stone beads, which should be the focal point of your necklace, earrings or bracelet.

Beaded jewelry, from necklaces to bracelets, is an important accessory to complement any wardrobe. Whether you make them yourself or buy them off the shelf, it’s important to get the right look.

Natural color diamonds can vary in color saturation or strength from very faint to an intense vivid color. Just a slight shift in color strength can make a colored diamond affordable. The strength of color is one of the most important factors in determining the value of a natural colored diamond. The value increases with the intensity of the most prominent color within the diamond.

In an attempt to bring some uniformity to the industry description of natural color diamonds, gem analysis laboratories have developed the fancy colored diamond color scale to classify the strength or intensity of a diamond’s color. Generally speaking, such gradient scales and tools are a reflection of human attempt to categorize the color the eye sees and judge it within three parametric areas: color hue, tone and saturation.

Natural color diamonds are evaluated from the “face up” position, meaning gemologists look directly through the top of the diamond. Experts at both the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) and the International Gemological Institute (IGI) have three parameters by which they describe color for these exquisite stones: hue, tone and saturation.

Color hue refers to the dominant color of the stone, such as pink, yellow, blue. There can also be modifiers or tints, which impart more than one hue to the stone, casting it into a still separate color category. For instance, a purplish-pink diamond indicates a stone with principal pink hue and purplish tints. If no such tints are present, the hue of the stone is said to be a pure primary color.

Color tone refers to how much lightness or darkness a stone appears to retain even when illuminated. The range, obviously, is from light or very light, to dark or very dark.

Color Saturation describes the strength or intensity of the hue or main color. The saturation of light-toned diamonds can vary from a pastel to vivid and intense. Darker diamonds will range from dark to deep in description.

Natural color diamonds are graded by gemological laboratories in very high-tech environments under controlled lighting environments similar to natural daylight. First, diamonds are tested for treatment, synthetic additions or alterations to ensure authenticity. Most laboratories will scan diamonds with a spectroscope to compare readings with their historical data and utilize High-Pressure-High-Temperature (HPHT, the most common process used to enhance the color of diamonds) detection and other proprietary equipment. Gemologists will also use comparison stones and proprietary color chips to compare two diamonds to each other. Though the face-up appearance is ultimately what determines the diamond color, stones are evaluated from other angles as well.

Many people buy antique jewelry as an investment, this is because like land its value will increase over time so the older the piece of jewelry is the more expensive it will be.

If you are lucky enough to have been handed down or have purchased a piece of antique jewelry whether it is a necklace, ring or broach it is strongly recommended that you insure your treasured piece.

You may assume that your antique jewelry is covered by your home insurance however this is not always the case, quite often your home insurance will cover your piece of antique jewelry is stolen but it may not cover your jewelry if it is lost or damaged.

Although you will never be able to replace the sentimental value of a piece of antique jewelry it may easy your mind if you can at least replace the item should it be lost.

It is wise to read your insurance policy very carefully or contact your insurance company to ask if you are covered for this type of event.

If your current insurance policy does not cover you fully for your antique jewelry then you may be able take out additional cover however it important to know and understand the cover you are going to be paying for.

Make sure your policy will cover you for loss and damage and also check if you will still be covered should the loss or damage happens when you are out of the country.

Check that you will be reimburse for the items full replacement cost and will you receive a replacement piece of jewelry or could you opt for a cash settlement.

Quite often your insurance company will ask for an appraisal before they allow you to take out the insurance to cover your antique jewelry. Check if this is something you can arrange yourself or if it is something your insurance company will need to arrange.

Will you have to pay an excess, if you lose or damage you antique jewelry and need to make a claim will you have to pay a sum of money before the claim can go through, how will this effect your existing policy and most important how much is the excess.

Wholesale jewelry suppliers need to be equipped to cater to demands of a large number of pieces of a single design or pattern. Wholesale jewelry suppliers need to place emphasis on efficiency rather than on creativity. The creativity part gets over when once a piece is designed. After it is selected by a jewelry reseller, the supplier should be able to supply the requisitioned number of pieces within a particular time frame.

The procedure for making each piece will need as much of attention to detail as the first piece was given. Jewelry is chosen mostly for its looks. So no compromises can be made in the production line.

Wholesale jewelry suppliers can either manufacture the jewelry on their own or source it from jewelry designers. However, several designers market their pieces themselves, functioning as wholesale jewelry suppliers. Either way strict quality control measures are a must.

Wholesale jewelry suppliers can even function from their homes. However, for doing so there are few factors that need to be considered. As wholesale jewelry suppliers deal in large stock lots, they will need to store large quantities of raw material. They should also consider earmarking adequate storage space for finished goods.

A ready supply of basic tools and supplies should be maintained to ensure that the manufacturing process is carried on smoothly. A ready supply of chains, links, bead bands, hoops, loops, clasps, certain commonly used precious and semi precious stones and the like should be kept ready for use. The working area should be prepared in a way that aids the manufacturing process of jewelry pieces.

Wholesale jewelry suppliers get into agreements with their buyers that specify the line of action to be taken on returns of unsold jewelry pieces and faulty or below par jewelry. So, due care should be exercised during the manufacturing process to turn out quality pieces.

By using these great, simple techniques for showcasing your beaded jewelry to an online audience, you can create an eye- catching and alluring virtual storefront that is sure to capture the attention of online shoppers.

Writing about your beads. When writing the description of your product you will want to be specific, yet concise. Online shoppers become bogged down and weary of auctions and descriptions that are too wordy. After all, the photos of your beaded jewelry is what will really sell them. Keep these handy tips in mind when writing about your beaded wares:

Creating headlines and titles. Generally, the shorter your headline the better it will be to grab the attention of potential buyers. For example, Sizzling Swarovski Cuff is a better title than Crystal Blue Swarovski Cuff That Will Melt Your Heart and Make You Sing. Also, experiment with words that pop and don’t be afraid to get creative. After all, it is your creativity that led you to beading in the first place! Try headlines with allure, such as Blue Lagoon Beaded Bracelet, or Mint Julep Gem Stone Choker. This will assign your product an appealing air of exoticism, and tempt shoppers to browse your site.

Describing your beaded jewelry. Maintain a conversational tone throughout your description that shoppers will identify with; avoid both slang and overly-professional jargon. Write as if your audience doesn’t know anything about beads or beaded jewelry. Include information such as the size, length, and dimensions, as well as the materials, beads, or gem stones you used to create it. A reader will want to know if it’s Swarovski, TOHO, acrylic, plastic, or glass beads that you are using. The more descriptive you are about the history of your jewelry, the more you will lessen any doubt or questions a buyer may have.
You can provide a detailed description while still remaining concise by breaking up your text into bullet points and lists that are easier to read than a large block of text. Use caps or boldface to highlight important information.

Being clear about your policies and guidelines. Shoppers must know that they are purchasing their beaded jewelry from an actual person, and not a factory or conveyor belt with automatic shipping systems. If you present your jewelry accurately, you can protect yourself from buyer fraud, complaints, and unhappy customers. Have all your bases covered regarding your policies on payment, shipping, returns and exchanges to ensure that the transaction goes smoothly.

Editing. Buyers are much less likely to bid on or purchase items with a description that contains spelling or grammatical errors. Sloppily composed descriptions errant with mistakes will only draw negative attention. An outside opinion can be very helpful, so ask a friend or family member to review it once you are done.

Photographing your work. A picture is worth a thousand words, and the purchasing appeal of your beaded jewelry is made, or broken, with the photos you present. The initial photo of your gem stone jewelry is displayed amongst many others in the same category, so it is important for yours to stand out amongst your competitors. Experiment with a magnified view, eagle eye photo, or various angles that are eye-catching and unique. If you can, use a macro lens to create a sharp and interesting image. Good lighting is equally as important, as well as using a backdrop that will not take away from the appeal of the item. Use smooth, cool colors to create a contrast against your beaded jewelry. Set aside time to play around with your photos on computer programs such as Photoshop or Picasa, and make your photos transform from fuzzy to fit.

Before you start figuring out whether or not your antique jewelry is valuable, you need to define what the word valuable means. There are a number of different valuable things that people can take a look at and a number of different ways that value can manifest itself to different people. To some people, value simply means how good the actual jewelry itself is in terms of the sentimental value that it has to them and in that case antique jewelry is almost always very valuable. To most people though, value translates into money and in order to do that, you need to either be able to appraise your value yourself or alternatively get someone else to appraise the value for you.

Your first step whenever you encounter a situation like this should usually be to go online and see what’s going on. The reason for that is that there is a lot of good information online around a number of different websites regarding different types of jewelry from silver jewelry to sterling silver jewelry to gold jewelry and others that discusses exactly what you should look for when it comes to appraising your own jewelry. It will also usually have some good photographic aides for you as well as some specific information for different materials because different materials are treated differently when you are considering antiques.

If you don’t really want to do it yourself or want to but simply are not interested in devoting the time necessary to doing it, well then that’s what professional appraisals are for! You always have the option of taking your antique jewelry to a professional and getting them to look it over for you. Some professionals specialize in different types like silver jewelry and gold jewelry whereas others are more general in their tastes and expertise. Either way, you can get an appraisal from them pretty quickly, an appraisal that ultimately will help you figure out exactly how valuable your jewelry antiques might be. Once you know how valuable your antique jewelry is, then you can figure out exactly what it is that you want to do with it.
